UINTA OUTDOOR COMPANY SCHOLARSHIPS

To qualify for the Uinta Outdoor Company Scholarship Program, applicants:

  • Must be eligible for the free or reduced lunch program at their school.
  • Live within Summit or Wasatch County

Scholarships are currently only available for Summer Camp tuition.

In order to make our scholarships available to as many campers as possible, a Camper may only receive one scholarship per Summer Camp Season.

The deadline for all scholarship applications is May 15, 2024.

What does a Scholarship Include?

  • Short Answer: All registration fees and supplies for Camp Activities.
  • Long Answer: The exact items that are included with tuition vary slightly from Camp to Camp. Each Camp page includes a description of what tuition includes for that specific camp. Please carefully read individual camp pages to know what to expect.
  • Parents will be responsible for providing lunches/snacks for their child for each day of camp and make sure their child comes equipped with the appropriate gear for camp.

How are Scholarships awarded?

  • Scholarships are awarded to Campers that can demonstrate enrollment in financial assistance programs. Scholarships are awarded in order of when they are received and dependent on available funds.

Do I need to fill out an application for each camp/child?

  • Scholarship applications are good for the entire camp season each calendar year. If you are applying for more than one child, you will need to fill out one application for each child.

Which Camp(s) will my Scholarship work for?

  • On the application you will indicate any/all camps you're child is interested in attending. Many factors weigh in our decision making process including: camp enrollment, number of applications, and available Scholarship funds. It is to your benefit to select multiple options on your application form as we cannot guarantee scholarships for specific camps.

How will I know if my child is awarded a scholarship?

  • Scholarship recipients will be notified by phone and email the week after the application deadline. Recipients are expected to respond within 3 business days of being notified or they may forgo their scholarship opportunity and we'll move on to the next in line.

My child has been selected as a Scholarship recipient, what do I need to do?

  • All recipients must respond within 3 business days of receiving their notification. Proof of eligibility (enrollment in Free/Reduced Lunch programs verification must be provided) must be submitted within 5 days of notification to retain scholarship.
  • After confirming eligibility, we will provide a registration link for your camp and you will receive all the information for your camp.

We are committed to unlocking access for all kids to recreate in nature. 100% of the donations to our Scholarship program go toward providing camp experiences for kids that would not otherwise have the opportunity.

You can contribute to our scholarship fund with a donation at checkout. We appreciate contributions of any size to help get as many kids as possible in nature.

If you are business looking to sponsor a child or make a tax-deductible donation, please contact us directly.

How is my donation money used?

  • 100% of the donations collected for our Scholarship fund go directly towards camp tuition for kids coming from low income families that qualify for Free/Reduced lunch programs in Summit and Wasatch Counties.

Why have a donation fund?

  • At UOC, we truly believe in the power of nature and that the benefits are for everyone. An important part of our Company's mission is to increase access for kids in our community and do our part to help close the nature gap.
  • We built a scholarship program into our Summer Camps from the very beginning and will always have a certain number of scholarship openings available regardless of donations received. However, the amount of scholarships that we are able to provide as a company and still remain viable varies based on a number of factors. When we combine our Company efforts with the efforts of our supportive community, together we are able to expand the impact of our Scholarship program and open up more opportunities for the kids who need it most.

The Nature Gap

The outdoors belong to all of us. Yet studies show that children from lower-income households do not have the same access to natural spaces.

People of color, families with children, and low-income communities are most likely to be deprived of the benefits that nature provides.
